Yes. As a DJ, you may be held liable if injuries, illnesses, or damages are caused by your business operations. For example, if a party attendee is injured from slipping on condensation from your fog machine, you could be held responsible. Claims from unfortunate incidents like these can easily wipe out your business and personal finances. With DJ insurance, you'll have the protection you need just in case something goes wrong.

If you purchase a DJ insurance policy, you have the option to add DJ equipment coverage. DJ equipment insurance covers your DJ, KJ, or VJ gear or lighting equipment on and off premises and during transportation. If you are a DJ, KJ, or VJ who travels to various locations, adding DJ equipment insurance to your policy is necessary to protect the tools of your business.

Should your equipment - or the equipment you rent-be stolen or damaged, you could be looking at thousands of dollars to replace your gear.

There are two coverage options available to DJs depending upon the amount of equipment coverage you need.

To fit your DJ business needs, Insurance Canopy provides two DJ policies—an event policy and an annual policy. An event policy is best suited for DJs who are playing one show or are playing at a weekend-long event. The show policy is active for up to 3 consecutive days. An annual policy is active for one year and is designed for DJs who perform year-round or plan on DJing for several months at a time. Keep in mind that Tools & Equipment Coverage is not available for the event policy.
